ABOUT US

Capoeira Chișinău — martial art, dance, music and community since 2003

Alemar Capoeira Chișinău has been active since 2003, making it the first and longest-running capoeira school in Moldova. Over the years we have built a tight-knit community of practitioners who share not just a training floor but the values of this unique discipline: respect, joy, and human connection.

WHO IS IT FOR?

KIDS

Capoeira is ideal for children from age 5. Training develops coordination, flexibility and balance — but most importantly, it builds character. Kids learn to communicate, cooperate and push their own limits in a safe, playful, musical environment. No competition, no losers — capoeira is played together.

ADULTS

Age, fitness level, and prior experience don't matter. Adults who practice capoeira gain physical fitness, flexibility, and a genuine way to disconnect from daily routine. More than that, you join a real community: three sessions per week, events, batizados, and friendships that go beyond the training floor.

WHY CAPOEIRA?

  • Full-body workout — strength, flexibility, coordination, balance
  • Accessible to everyone, regardless of age, gender, or fitness level
  • Live music at every training session — berimbau, atabaque, pandeiro
  • Martial art, dance, and acrobatics in one discipline
  • Active community with regular events and batizados
  • First class is free

CAPOEIRA VS OTHER MARTIAL ARTS

Capoeira is the only martial art that fuses combat, music, dance, and acrobatics.

vs

Karate

A striking art from Japan built on precision, katas, and formal sparring. Powerful and disciplined — but silent. No music, no dance, no cultural narrative beyond technique.

Capoeira adds:

Live percussion that dictates the pace of every exchange, a fluid ginga in place of static stances, and a rich Afro-Brazilian cultural identity woven into each movement.

vs

Judo

An Olympic grappling art focused on throws, sweeps, and ground control. Effective and precise — but purely functional. No strikes, no acrobatics, no rhythm.

Capoeira adds:

Explosive kicks and aerial feints, acrobatic evasions that make attack beautiful, and a live musical heartbeat driving every session.

vs

Taekwondo

An Olympic art known for high, fast kicks and formal competition. Dynamic and athletic — but structured around winning, not playing.

Capoeira adds:

The ginga — a constant rhythmic sway — turning kicks into flowing dialogue rather than a contest. The roda replaces the scoreboard: no winners, only partners.

vs

MMA

Mixed Martial Arts combines striking and grappling for maximum effectiveness. Practical and versatile — but purely combative, with no cultural dimension or artistic expression.

Capoeira adds:

Artistic expression, cultural depth, and the roda — a communal ritual that makes every game a shared performance, not just a fight.

COMMUNITY

Capoeira is not a solo practice. The roda — the circle in which the game is played — is a metaphor for community life: every participant matters, every person contributes to the energy. At Alemar Chișinău, students are not numbers — they are part of a group that grows together, regardless of age, gender, or background.
